Charles Barker is a Senior Professional with Ethics By Design and a Principal in CMI Concord Group. He has over 25 years experience as a consultant to diverse clients world wide, including Fortune 500 corporations, non-governmental organizations, insurance corporations, governments, and Big Four accounting firms.

Chuck drew on his expertise in the field of negotiation and conflict management and his knowledge of the special challenges faced by Chuck has helped pharmaceutical, health care, and insurance clients improve their organizational negotiation capacity and results in negotiations with North American, European, Latin American and Middle Eastern payors, regulators, and providers. He also works with clients in the auditing, consulting, and financial services industries to manage difficult relationship negotiations prompted by various industry trends and U.S. legislation promoting corporate accountability. In his public sector work Mr. Barker serves as an advisor to the Justice, Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the Episcopal Church of Sudan with whom he is designing and will conduct instructional and mediation programs to help the society of southern Sudan return from over twenty years of civil war to peaceful civilian life. He is developing similar initiatives with clients in Kenya and Zimbabwe. |

Michael Palmer is the founder and president of Ethics By Design, Inc. An authority on organizational ethics, Mike’s consulting practice has included work for Fortune 500 companies, professional firms, colleges, medical care facilities, and government agencies. He is also a Senior Professional with CMI Concord Group. Before founding Ethics By Design, Mike taught social ethics, theology, and law and worked as a lawyer for 25 years.

In his legal work, Mike saw firsthand how the failure to prevent fraud and theft can destroy a business. As a consultant for government agencies in the Middle East and the Balkans, he confronted the destructive impact of corruption on economic development. Mike joined the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners to help organizations more effectively manage their exposure to fraud. Together with Chuck Barker, Mike has also developed interest-centered management, a set of cutting-edge tools and techniques with which to resolve the most challenging moral dilemmas in settings not covered by the rules. A frequent speaker and resource person, Mike has conducted workshops at international conferences and taught numerous seminars. |
